Health Hazards: Lighting 12th December 07
173 Anne Milton: To ask the Secretary of State for Health, with reference to the answer of 18th July 2007, Official Report, column 454W, on health hazards: lighting, if he will take steps to assess the effects of the use of (a) fluorescent and (b) low energy bulbs on those suffering from (i) light sensitivity and (ii) systemic lupus erthromatosis, in conjunction with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. [174042]
Ann Keen: The Department of Health currently has no plans, in conjunction with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs or otherwise, to assess the effects of the use of low energy bulbs on those suffering with light sensitivity or lupus.
Health Hazards: Lighting 12th June 07
Mr. Cox: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment she has made of (a) the nature of the medical conditions and (b) the number of people suffering from such medical conditions which can be exacerbated by light emitted from energy saving light bulbs. [140905]
Mr. Ivan Lewis: It is known that some people living with lupus and epilepsy, and other long-term conditions, may be affected by energy saving light bulbs. We have made no assessment of the number of such people affected.

Mr. Bruce George: To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what discussions his Department has had with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on the implications for people with light sensitivity conditions of phasing out the sale of incandescent light bulbs. Caroline Flint: I have been asked to reply.
The Department is aware of the need to consider health implications in the event of incandescent light bulbs being phased out. Departmental officials have already had discussions with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and other Government Departments that have an interest in these matters.

Mr. Bruce George: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment her Department has made of the impact on the health of people with light sensitivity conditions of phasing out the sale of incandescent light bulbs; and if she will make a statement. [133880]
Caroline Flint: The Department is aware of the need to consider health implications in the event of incandescent light bulbs being phased out. Departmental officials have already had discussions with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and other Government Departments that have an interest in these matters.
Lighting - 30th April 07
Mr. Bruce George: To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs if he will consider exempting people with light sensitivity conditions from proposals to phase out the sale of incandescent light bulbs. [133879]
Ian Pearson: The Government are exploring how various groups may be affected by the phasing out of inefficient light-bulbs. It is important that any unintended impacts are mitigated.
